Introduction
Since its establishment in 2004 E.C, Bule Hora University (BHU) has been doing its best in human capital development, research, community service and engagement, industry linkage and technology transfer activities.
Technology Transfer and Community Service Directorate is an office under the Academic, Research, Technology Transfer and Community Service Vice President Office, primarily established for connecting Bule Hora University with the local community.
To realize the university’s journey to excellence, the Technology Transfer and Community Service Directorate (TTCSD) has been working with maximum efforts on different aspects and delivering various technology transfer and community service activities aimed at improving the livelihoods of surrounding communities and solving industry problems.
The Office coordinates, assists in, and initiates broader community service and technology transfer projects intended to benefit the larger community within the catchment areas.
Moreover, the directorate is primarily structured to operate the missions assigned to higher education institutions, particularly by giving priority to disseminating research outputs and implementing demand-driven community engagement and service activities.
The directorate is mandated to support innovation ideas, facilitate research-based technology transfer, adopt and disseminate new and modified technologies related to agriculture, mining, health, and indigenous knowledge.
It also provides short-term training and consultancy services, strengthens community engagement initiatives and university-industry linkage activities, runs STEM programs, and implements university social responsibility activities.
These activities include school support, road safety, illegal migration and human trafficking awareness, mental health, gender-based violence, indigenous knowledge promotion, green legacy initiatives, and other cross-cutting issues in Southern Ethiopia, particularly in Guji, West Guji, and East Borena Zones.

By 2030, Bule Hora University aspires to be nationally and internationally competent through implementing demand-driven community services and disseminating research outputs to solve societal and industrial problems by adopting and disseminating new and modified technologies based on scientific evidence.

To conduct research-oriented and demand-driven community service, strengthen and develop industry linkage and community engagement, and solve community and industry problems through selecting, adopting, innovating, and transferring up-to-date and appropriate technologies.
