Duties and Responsibilities

The Directorate of RPED is one of the pillars under the Academic, Research, Technology Transfer, and Community Service Vice President, with the following major duties and responsibilities:
  • Assists the President and Vice President with research-related activities;
  • Act as the link between the university and the community with respect to research initiatives of mutual benefit;
  • Check the regular progress of research undertakings and promote performance evaluation processes at different academic units;
  • Checks that the budget requested for research projects is reasonable and funds are available;
  • Coordinate and facilitate innovative research activities;
  • Design strategy for establishment of core laboratories and research facilities and superintend implementation of the plans;
  • Disseminates and popularizes research outputs and consultancy services;
  • Ensuring that accepted standards of research and ethical behavior are met;
  • Facilitates the establishment of partnerships among research groups with national and international stakeholders;
  • Lead planning, organizing, supervising, and monitoring all research activities at the university;
  • Organizes and executes national and international research symposiums, workshops, and seminars that focus on research thematic areas of the university; and
  • Support and facilitate collaborative research programs with donors
