The research centers at BHU are mainly established to achieve already identified excellences and advance the university's research thematic areas.

Mission: To enhance the university's research capacity by providing researchers with the opportunity to conduct demand-driven research in accordance with national policy directions.

Vision: Promoting problem-solving research that would make the university competent both at the national and international level.

Aim: To conduct quality research and disseminate its results consistently in order to advance knowledge and understanding of society.
Depending on the emphasis, scope, and staffing of the centers, the centers may differ from one another. However, all centers contribute in different ways to the university's common goals of extending knowledge, generating new findings, and/or having a positive impact on society.
Kercha Research Center
It is the goal of Kercha Research Center to be a leader in coffee research and development in the area and beyond.
Finchawa Research Center
The center's primary focus is improving dryland agriculture, with an emphasis on livestock improvement. The center works to develop drought-resistant crops, improve livestock nutrition, and increase agricultural productivity. It also provides technical assistance and training to local farmers.
